The new system will be able to detect faces, regardless of coloured contacts, or minor cosmetic surgery – and has already been successful in Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Wuhan – who were are among the first cities to utilize the face-scanners. At the turnstiles, passengers insert both their ticket and ID into a slot. They then are instructed to face a built-in camera.
